چکیده
The damselfish Chromis chromis is typically the most common fish species in rocky shores of Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea. Despite having no commercial value, C. was considered as a key for littoral environment. In this study, biometric properties length-weight relationships were examined 112 specimens sampled from 2018. Fifteen morphometric six meristic characteristics measured. We also used molecular approach employing mitochondrial genes (16S rRNA COI) first time to further characterize collected Morphometric characters male female similar there differences between sexes. average length weight calculated 99.54 + 11.49 mm (72.0-115.1) 18.35 5.95 g (5.96-26.56), respectively. relationship W = 0.0127TL3.117 (R2 0.834) growth indicates positive allometric (b>3). 16S COI partial sequences analysis indicated close genetic with Aegean

Biometric properties of damselfish, Chromis chromis (Osteichthyes: Pomacentridae) from the middle Adriatic
Seventeen morphometric and seven meristic body characteristics were examined in 406 specimens of damselfish (234 females and 172 males) caught in the middle Adriatic (near the Korčula and Kopište Islands). The differences between the mean values of the measured morphometric characteristics in the males and females were not statistically significant. Modes were identical in males and females for...
متن کاملHistorical colonization and demography of the Mediterranean damselfish, Chromis chromis.
The desiccation of the Mediterranean Sea during the Messinian Salinity Crisis 6.0-5.3 million years ago (Ma), caused a major extinction of the marine ichthyofauna of the Mediterranean. This was followed by an abrupt replenishment of the Mediterranean from the Atlantic after the opening of the Strait of Gibraltar. In this study, we combined demographic and phylogeographic approaches using mitoch...
متن کاملBehavioural discrimination of polarized light in the damselfish Chromis viridis (family Pomacentridae).
In this study, we demonstrate the capacity for damselfish (green chromis, Chromis viridis) to discriminate between different e-vector orientations of ultraviolet polarized light. We examined the ability of green chromis to resolve small differences in e-vector orientation of ultraviolet polarized light. Fish were successfully trained to swim towards an e-vector orientation of polarized light us...
متن کاملSpecies boundaries and evolutionary lineages in the blue green damselfishes Chromis viridis and Chromis atripectoralis (Pomacentridae)
The blue green damselfishes were described as a complex of two species (Chromis viridis and Chromis atripectoralis), mainly based on the colouration of the pectoral fin base. In this study, the authors analysed the mitochondrial control region of 88 blue green damselfishes from Indonesia, the Philippines, Red Sea and the Great Barrier Reef. The phylogenetic analysis revealed four major monophyl...
متن کاملGenetic Multipartitions Based on D-Loop Sequences and Chromosomal Patterns in Brown Chromis, Chromis multilineata (Pomacentridae), in the Western Atlantic
Connectivity levels among Brazilian reef fish fauna populations have attracted growing interest, mainly between mainland shores and oceanic islands. The Pomacentridae, whose phylogeographic patterns are largely unknown in the Atlantic, are a family of dominant fish in reef regions. We present data on the variability and population structure of damselfish Chromis multilineata in different areas ...
